From Stuck to Empowered: Keri's story
Keri came to coaching feeling stuck in her career, frustrated and lacking confidence. She signed up for 6-month coaching program and only 3 months into the program she experienced a transformation in how she viewed herself and her leadership. Below Keri shares her journey and the shifts she's made along the way
"Before I lost my job, I was feeling stuck in my career. I had no clear path to move forward beyond my role as Principal Product Manager. I was working hard, but I wasn’t growing, and I didn’t know how to take that next step.
When I later lost my job, it shook my confidence. I started to think I wasn’t good enough to get a job at the same level, let alone a director role. I compared myself to my friends with high-level titles, and I felt like a failure. It was like the rug was pulled out from under me, and I didn’t know how to move forward.
Looking back, I realize what I was missing was confidence and the drive to keep going. I was relying on others to tell me I was capable, and that only made my self-doubt worse. I wasn’t trusting myself.
I knew I needed help to get unstuck, rebuild my confidence, and stop relying on others for validation. I realized that if I didn’t seek support, I’d keep struggling with self-doubt and it would hold me back from the success I wanted.
The most powerful part of the coaching was realizing I don’t need anyone else to validate me. Monica helped me see the truth of what I’d already accomplished in my career. I had been seeking approval because I didn’t believe in myself. Monica pointed out that I didn’t feel this way in my personal life, so why should I in my work life?
Then, something clicked. I realized I didn’t need corporate America to define my success. I’ve wanted to start my own business for 30 years, but fear held me back. After coaching, I found the confidence to take the leap and start my own company. Now, I control my career, my vision, and my future.
The biggest win for me is that I no longer worry about how others see me at work. I also no longer compare myself to my peers. I sleep better, and if I start to feel anxious, I have the tools to trust myself and believe in my abilities.
